The Thief

image

Time is a fickle thief
That enters a small house–
To Sneak up on us.

Moments become
the desired possession
held tightly;

And devious clocks
eclipse a wandering
freedom,

for those who deal
With the frugal merchant
Of now and later.

To buy and sell our lives
With such a currency,
Makes poor, the worth
of you and me.

True wealth resides
In the ocean and the sky
As wide as an open stride,

Give freely, embracing
each new happening,
Letting it all pass by,
remembering,

experience is born
From the sensual
acceptance of essence;

Never was it, the measure
Of time, to bind us
and take us away.

  1. I love this. Time can be our enemy, if we let it…stealing our “now” moments.
    “To buy and sell our lives with such currency. Makes poor, the worth of you and me.” I especially like this line.
